Marian "Larson" Swenson

Marian was born October 7, 1930 on the family farm in Woodside township, rural Erskine to Oscar and Theresa Larson.

Marian had nine other siblings. They were Betty, Gene, Angeline, Marie, David, Ordine, Earl, Lowell, and Shirley. Marian attended a country school in rural Erskine.

As well as working on the family farm, Marian worked for Berg's farms during the potato harvest and Red Apple Café in Mahnomen doing waitress work.

In July of 1949, while attending the Polk County Fair, Marian met the love of her life, Clinton Swenson. They were married six months later-December 18, 1949, at the parsonage in Erskine. They were married over 63 years. Sadly, Clinton passed away on August 29, 2013.

Marian and Clinton were blessed with four children. Linda (Leland) Raaen, Loretta (Mike) Hitchen, Philip (Mary) Swenson, and Monica (Larry) Wiers.

Marian has 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren that lovingly call her "Cookie Grandma". Marian always had cookies or treats for them when they came to visit. They are-Lynae, Loren, Chad, Stacy, Matthew, Nicholas, Eric, Nathan, Breanne, Brandon, and Brittany. Great-grandchildren are-Maren, Caleb, Alex, Jaret, Caitlyn, Hunter, Kimberly, Katrina, Ryan, Michael, Tyler, Tysen, Mackenzie, Kaylee, Kara, Brylee, Carsyn, Olive, Bergan, Carter, Logan, Adeline, Christian, Blake, Kate, and Hattie.

Marian and Clinton lived on a dairy farm raising their family. Then moved to Fertile. They were life long members of St. John's Lutheran Church rural Fertile until its closing. She is currently a member of Concordia.

Marian and Clinton traveled to several states over the years including, North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, and Vermont.

Marian loved caring, cooking, baking, and sewing for her family. She also made homemade donuts for the Bergeson Nursery for several years. Her homemade buns were baked once a wee and were to die for!

Marian loved making baby quilts for all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as for many baby gifts. Her quilts were all embroidered and stitched with love.

Marian enjoys word find games, reading, card games, and bingo. We are all so blessed to call her our Mother.
